Our 1-Year Genetic Health Guarantee
What every kitten has before going home, what the guarantee covers, and what we ask of you.
What the Guarantee Covers
Every kitten is placed with a written contract that includes a 1-year genetic health guarantee. If your cat becomes ill because of a covered genetic condition during that first year, the guarantee applies as the contract sets out. You receive the full terms in writing with your kitten, and we are happy to send them before you apply.
What We Ask of You
- See your own vet within 3 days. Book a general examination with a licensed veterinarian within 3 days of bringing your kitten home.
- Keep the written note. A written note from your vet is needed to validate the guarantee.
- Keep up routine care. Follow your vet's advice on boosters and checkups, and keep the vaccination record we give you.
Before Your Kitten Leaves Us
Kittens go home at 9 weeks. A vet examines every kitten a few days before to confirm they are healthy and ready to travel, and your kitten leaves with:
- A vet examination a few days before going home
- The spay or neuter surgery, already done
- A microchip
- FVRCP vaccinations (feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia) for the kitten's age
- Deworming
- A vaccination record
- A health certificate
- A written contract with the health guarantee
- A travel carrier
Vaccinations and Boosters
FVRCP protects against feline viral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia, the core vaccines every cat needs. Kittens have a series of shots, so your kitten's record shows what they have had so far, and your vet will tell you which boosters are still due.
Spayed or Neutered, and Microchipped
Our kittens go home already spayed or neutered, because we place them as companions. Each one is microchipped too: register the chip in your own name as soon as your kitten arrives, so a lost cat can always be traced back to you.
Health in the Breed
If you want to understand the conditions people ask about in Maine Coons, such as HCM, SMA and hip dysplasia, our guide to Maine Coon health explains each one and what a buyer can ask a breeder.
